Ever heard the expression; 'the first impression is the one that counts?' Well, that applies to business cards, with so many cards' printing and design options it is easy to get confused and carried away towards the most expensive and futuristic designs. First rule to choose the ideal business card design and printing option is to be yourself.

You are your business card, so choose a design that reflects your personality as well as your company. When people see your card they need to be able to catch your message with only one glance at it. I like to compare an eye catching business card to a landing page; both need pass on the information to viewers as soon as they land their eyes on it.

I will use another analogy to talk freshness and the need to update your business periodically. Just like websites are updated on regular basis your cards should too. How many times has your favourite website changed its layouts over the past year or so? Take Google for instance every now and then they change their logo either to celebrate a special date or to honour an important person from the past, recently Google even changed the layout of their results' pages, so why not follow suit.

There is no need to change your card's design every month but on an early basis might not be a bad idea or as you add new services and other ways for people to reach you. For instance, by now you might have a Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook; why not add those details to your business cards. Freshness and innovations is what will keep you ahead of your competition.
